October 13, 14, & 15, 2017
We are pleased and excited to present the 12th annual Johnny Appleseed Festival October 13-15, 2017. We are looking forward to what will be an exciting and fun filled weekend of family entertainment.
The cornerstone of the event is the timbersports competition. The Johnny Appleseed Festival has become one of the premier stops on the professional lumberjack circuit. It draws the very best competitors from the U.S. and Canada and features the largest and most talented field of female competitors in a stand-alone event. This year’s schedule will include the U.S. Open Springboard Title and National Standing Block Title sponsored by STIHL. Again this year, the entire event will be broadcast over the internet by the digital video network Rated Red. Last year their streaming coverage attracted over 400,000 viewers.
Returning this year, by popular demand, is the Lightweight and Heavyweight Draft Horse Pull. Don Johnson, Hem-View Farms is the sponsor of this event scheduled for Saturday, October 14th at Sheffield Memorial Field. Registration will begin at 10:30 AM with the Pull beginning at 11:00AM. Payout will be 1st place through 5th place.
Also returning this year is the Antique Tractor Pull. The Pull is scheduled for Sunday, October 15th at Sheffield Memorial Field with 9AM registration and weigh in followed by the Pull at 11AM. This event is sponsored by Hornburg Drilling, LLC. There will be 12 weight classes starting at 2500lbs. and going up to 8,000lbs (500lb increments)
In addition we will have live music, apple pie baking contest, cornhole tournament, wine tasting at the Sheffield Firehall, Lanterns to Heaven and a Sawdust Pile Dive for children. Our many vendors continue the tradition of great food as well as beautiful crafts and other items made by local artisans. New this year we are pleased to present the Lumber Heritage Region of Pennsylvania. They will be displaying historic photographs and artifacts and give oral presentations highlighting our unique past and traditions.
Admission is free so bring the whole family and join us for tractors, draft horses, music, food, crafts and world class timbersports. Hope to see you there!
